Apart from my reading for the courses that I teach, I try to keep up with new fiction and poetry and essays from authors around the world. I read and re-read Wilson Harris's fiction and the poetry of Derek Walcott, Kamau Brathwaite, Soyinka, Achebe, Elizabeth Bishop, Yeats, and, in translation, Lorca, Machado, Marquez, Calvino, to name a few. I run almost daily on the trails around the Pandapas Pond area of Brush Mountain. My favorite web pages are dictionary.com and guardianunlimited.co.uk , http://www.awpwriter.org , http://www.poetrymagazine.org/ www. carcanet .co.uk , http://www.amnestyusa.org/index.htm.
Also of note, is Radio Phonics, which is host to some of the latest writing from Africa and sponsored by the British Council.
