Fred D'Aguiar is a Professor of English in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences at Virginia Tech. Below is a list of the courses he has taught in the past.

Poetry Workshop

This poetry writing course provides those who wish to pursue careers in creative writing with the tools they need to develop as poets. Primary focus is on the writing and critiquing of original poems, while examining the work of established poets who are acknowledged masters of their genres.

Playwrighting Workshop

An advanced course for aspiring playwriters to write and critque their material, while paying close attention to the work of renwoned dramatists, and to the aspects of playwrighting that relate to theatrical production.

Playwrighting

A workshop course in the craft and art of playwriting which emphasizes the development of craft and the nurturing of vision and art.

Issues in African Studies

A variable topics course in which students will use the Africana Studies paradigm to take a centered, critical, and empowering look at various topics regarding people of African descent.

Form and Theory of Fiction

A graduate course for writers of fiction in which students are taught to analyze the forms and theories which underlie the development of the genre.

Fiction Workshop

Workshop course that focuses on the writing and critiquing of original short stories and longer pieces of original fiction.
